Apple lends helping hand to those, whose iPhones, iPads and Macs are damaged by floods in Japan. In a never-before action, Apple for the first time in history is changing its repair policy. The company will repair devices damaged by Japanese floods for free. To this date, Apple has never entertained any water-damaged device under its repair policies.
Showing social responsibility to the people affected by floods in Japan, Apple has announced that it will repair any iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Mac damaged by the heavy floods that devastated Japan.
Good Cause by Apple: Company to Repair Devices Damaged by Japanese Floods for Free
On its Japanese website, Apple has provided a helpline number (0120-27753-5) for consumers, so that they can directly contact the company for any query.
The company has expressed its heartfelt sympathy to all who are affected by the floods and pray for the earliest reconstruction.
Moreover, Apple has arranged a courier service for the delivery of the products, according to Macotakara.
Note that online service repairs are not included in this announcement. This free repair service does not include any accessories. Consumers are expected to produce proof of ownership of their devices.
Given the situation on the ground, Apple warns the consumers that pick-up and delivery times may be affected as many areas are waterlogged.
The products Apple will repair free include Mac, iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, iPod, and Apple display (excluding accessories like Beats).
This repair policy will include devices directly damaged by the recent disaster; Apple will respond as quickly as possible to repair the devices.
Apple will take devices till the end of September 2018.
Apple has taken an admirable step to help the people, who are affected by the floods. This action will surely improve the company’s brand image as it has faced a few recent setbacks.
The eastern markets posed some challenges for Apple. Of late, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has prescribed DND app for all smartphones in India. However, Apple is likely to challenge this rule in the court.
