The new AirPods will have noise-cancelation and water-resistance features, the people said. Moreover, Apple is planning to boost the range so that AirPods can work even if you are away from your iPhone or iPad. However, the water-resistance feature will be less effective when you are swimming; it will work against rain and perspiration.

Among other surprises, Apple is said to bolster its future AirPods with biometric sensors to monitor heart rates. This is for users, who don’t want to wear Apple Watch during their morning fitness regimen. A new chip and support for hands-free Siri activation are also in the offing.
Apple is vigilant at the competition like Bose Corp. and Sennheiser, who are leaders in over-ear headphones. Throwing down the gauntlet to the two brands, Apple is working on over-ear headphones, which might be a higher-end alternative to Apple’s Beats headphones. The audio products were supposed to hit the market in late 2018, but now the release is pushed back to next year.
The news got further approval following a statement from Christopher Rolland, an analyst working at Susquehanna Financial Group. As per the analyst, Cirrus Logic Inc. would be working with Apple on the new AirPods, and then shares of Cirrus Logic shot up 10% percent.
