The year 2015 was a great year for Apple as the company has achieved many milestones. All the good news in 2015 was related to iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple Watch was kind of a lonely fellow in the news, that’s because the financials declared by Apple did not differentiate the sales figure of Apple Watch.
Strategy Analytics have submitted their report on global shipments of SmartWatches in Q4 2015. The report is surely delighting for all SmartWatch manufacturers, as the sales figures have moved to the North Pole with a drastic growth rate. Apple Watch can be considered as the leader to bring up this revolutionary sales data.
Apple Ships 5.1Million Apple Watches in Q4 2015
According to Strategy Analytics, global SmartWatch shipments were at 8.1m in Q4 2015. This is a monstrous growth rate of 316% compared to Q4 2014. From these shipments, Apple Watch occupies staggering 63% share followed by Samsung with 16%.
It is the first time when SmartWatches have dominated the sales of Swiss Watch. This could be because more users are getting acquainted with SmartWatches. The figure is expected to keep rising in coming quarters as well.
On the other hand, Swiss Watch like Tag Heuer accounted only 1% of all SmartWatches shipped in Q4 2015. The Swiss Watch industry is slowing down at a faster pace, due to SmartWatches.
In this regards, Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics quotes that, “The Swiss watch industry has been very slow to react to the development of smartwatches. The Swiss watch industry has been sticking its head in the sand and hoping smartwatches will go away….”
We cannot judge the future of Swiss Watches, but what we know is that the people around the globe love SmartWatches and the growth is expected to rise in coming future. We also expect Apple Watch to lead this revolution in future as well.
