There are a lot of rumors and gossips around Apple’s 2018 iPhones. But Digitimes has brought something concrete about the sales of the three future models.
The media, marketing, and consulting agency report that Apple’s suppliers are all set to ship the newest iPhones ever.
Estimated Sales Ratio of 6.1-inch iPhone Higher Than Combined Sales of 5.8″ and 6.5″ Models
Digitimes believes that there is a strong demand of $700 6.1-inch model in the market. The low-cost model is to bring the best parts of iPhone X to accessible price points.
Interestingly, Apple has not yet named the new models to be released in September this year. But there are a lot of expectations from users as the company is going to introduce an iPhone X successor, a new 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus and a mass market 6.1-inch LCD iPhone with thin bezels and Face ID just like the iPhone X.
Apple’s strategy to lower the price of an LCD model stems from the fact that Apple witnessed a less-than-expected performance of iPhone X last year. However average selling price (ASP) goes up significantly as iPhone X’s popularity “stabilized unit sales and pushed up the price per unit.”
Apple believes that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will win the hearts of users with its low price ($699) and excellent features like near-bezel-less design, Face ID camera, and modern internals. In other words, 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will take place of current iPhone 8.
About the other two iPhones, analysts believe that the price of 5.8-inch iPhone X will be reduced by $100, and it will be available at the starting price of $899. And the premium 6.5-inch iPhone might be available at the starting price of $999.
According to DigiTimes, new iPhone shipments are likely to reach 70-75 million units by the end of this year. If this happens, it will be a great feat for Apple as the company may break its own sales record of iPhone 6/6 Plus. Note that the number is related to 2018 iPhone shipments and readers should not mix the sales figures of older iPhones.
A Chinese analyst suggested that the estimated sales of 6.1-inch iPhone would be equal to that of combined sales of 5.8-inch and 6.1-inch models. As per the analyst, the estimated sales ratio of 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.5-inch would be 2:5:3.
This is an interesting study for Apple analysts. The company needs a healthy comeback as last year iPhone X’s sales were not up to the mark. This year, Apple expects higher sales of its low-priced 6.1-inch model. Let’s hope Apple provides excellent features in this low-cost model.
