Apple released a monstrous 12.9″ iPad Pro at an event held in September last year. It was very much welcomed by the fraternity, but the response was from a limited audience. That’s simply because of the size; there was no concern on performance, quality or features. It was superb in every possible way.
To suffice that dent of big iPad Pro, Apple released a similar version with a smaller size. Apple later released a 9.7-inch iPad Pro on 21st March 2016 along with a smaller iPhone SE. The new smaller version of iPad Pro features similar hardware under its hood as 12.9″ iPad Pro.
The notable difference between the two iPad Pros is off screen size, and other is of RAM. The bigger iPad Pro boasts 4GB of RAM while; the smaller one has half of it. The reason for the difference could be its target audience. The 12.9″ model was specifically for professionals and artists who have a substantial demand for resources.
On the other hand, the 9.7″ was intended for regular use and thus, 2GB of RAM is quite sufficient for that. Other hardware specification remains almost the same between the two iPad Pro.
It’s no surprise that Apple has always focused on different categories of audiences. This can clearly be noticed when at the same event Apple launched a 4-inch iPhone SE. Most of the people had made up their mind of Apple never going back to the smaller screen. But Apple has witnessed the demand for smaller iPhones.
Anyways, let's get back to the 9.7″ iPad Pro. The new 9.7″ iPad Pro Wi-Fi model will start from $599 for 32GB, $749 for 128GB, $899 for 256GB. In the case of Wi-Fi and cellular, you’ll have to burn some more cash. The 32GB variant is tagged at $729, 128GB at $879, and $256GB at $1029.
Both the models are available to order from 31st March 2016 and color options remain the same. That is Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, and Space Gray.
