These 6.1-inch iPhone 2018 Concept Images Look In Line with Rumors

Apple is likely to announce an iPhone with a 6.1" display. Images shown by artist Jonas Dähnert partially confirm this rumor.

When it comes to future iPhones, everyone begins to expect kind of a miracle. But every year, Apple cannot perform miracles. When the tech giant launched iPhone X with Face ID feature, it was a sort of commotion in the technology market.

But then people ask what is next? Well, the X legacy seems to be carried forward by Apple as the brand is likely to release iPhone X with 6.1″ display in the coming fall.

The artists have begun to create images of unconfirmed details. If you compare the upcoming model with the current iPhone X, you would realize that there is a striking similarity between the two except for the size of the future phone.

Well-Known Artist Jonas Dähnert Presents 6.1-inch iPhone 2018 Concept Images

The current image is created by Jonas Dähnert, and there can be some differences between the image created by the artist and the next-generation phone that will come out in September.

Among the noticeable difference, iPhone X has an OLED screen, the future iPhone is likely to flaunt a traditional LCD. One can hardly find any difference in full brightness, but in an OLED display, every pixel glows, and this eliminates a need for a backlight. In bright conditions, phones with OLED display look better than those with LCDs.

A ‘chin’less wonder?

If you give a closer look at your iPhone X, you will come to know that the screen folds under at the bottom. OLEDs have an advantage as they can be bent when they are being manufactured.

The primary reason why many smartphones have a larger bezel at the bottom is the screen has to connect to a display controller. This bezel is also called ‘chin.’ Since iPhone X has an OLED, Apple could fold the screen to put the controller underneath.

LCD can’t be bent; so you can expect a chin and not the slim bezel in the iPhone 6.1 (as shown in the image created by Dähnert.

Is it going to be iPhone 9?

According to Dähnert, the LCD-based iPhone can be called an iPhone 9. In 2017, Apple released iPhone 8 and iPhone X, leaving a number, i.e., 9. Perhaps this led Dähnert to believe that the future iPhone with 6.1″ size can be iPhone 9.

The images also reveal that Apple will phase out its celebrated Home button, which was also instrumental in bringing touch ID with iPhone 5s. This clearly indicates that all the iOS devices, which are going to be released this year will have Face ID.

From the specifications revealed earlier, anyone can guess that the device’s dimensions will be 5.9 x 3.0 x 0.3 inches (150.9 x 75.7 x 8.5 mm). A possibility of dual camera lenses is eliminated in 6.1-inch iPhone.

Apple is cutting its costs by using an LCD and a single-lens camera. Apple might have taken a cue from the fact that the higher price of iPhone X slashed its sale last year.

A renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that iPhone 9 will be priced somewhere between $600 and $700.

This phone is likely to be announced and released in September this year.
