Apple Daily, a Taiwanese Apple blog, published photos and some specs about the 5.5″ iPhone 6 (which it calls iPhone 6L). From the data, it looks like the 5.5″ iPhone 6 would closely resemble the size of the 4.7″ iPhone 6 and feature a mammoth 2915mAh battery.
Now all of this is unconfirmed rumor despite the fact that there are photos that attest the same. Although we can’t be sure of the authenticity of the photos (yet), it’s definitely worth a look.
Very little information has been leaked out about the 5.5″ iPhone 6. We’ve seen pretty much all the important things about the 4.7″ iPhone 6 but the other model has largely remained unclear. In fact, at various points, I’ve voiced my doubts about the very existence of the larger iPhone.

However, here’s a compelling case. The iPhone “6L” features a 5.5″ display but it’s not insanely large like Samsung’s Galaxy Note series. In fact, with thinner bezels like in iPad mini, the 5.5″ iPhone 6L just looks very similar to the 4.7″ model. Here’s a side-by-side comparison from Apple Daily.
As you can see, the 5.5″ doesn’t seem to be much larger. In fact, the idea seems to be that the user should still be able to use the 5.5″ iPhone 6 with one hand only (largely.)
There’s more news though. The iPhone 6L (5.5″), according to Apple Daily, should feature a 2915mAh battery. It’s a huge bump from all previous speculations. It goes well with the requirement though. A larger retina display would obviously require more power.
We had reported a few days back on this report about the iPhone 6 (4.7″) featuring a 2100mAh battery. However, the new Apple Daily report seems to think otherwise. The 4.7″ model will only feature a 1810mAh battery and this is consistent with reports that emerged a few weeks ago. The 1810mAh is a bump up from the 1440mAh.
As of now, both the iPhone 6 and 6L are expected to run on the A8 processor.
Nothing much is known about the other hardware specs on iPhone 6L. For instance, it would be really interesting to know what type of a camera the larger iPhone 6 features.
