3D Touch has always worked perfectly for me. However, there have been some rare occasions when the touch technology didn’t seem to function properly. It would either not respond to press or require random firm presses to come into action. Luckily, I have always found a way to overcome the issue. Therefore, you shouldn’t be disappointed or surprised if 3D Touch suddenly stops working on your iPhone or, iPhone 8/8 Plus as the issue can be resolved easily.
First things first, 3D Touch unresponsiveness could be caused by more than one thing. For example, the defective or scratch-ridden screen guard or a miscellaneous bug could be the real culprit of the problem. Hence, you might have to try out multiple solutions to get rid of the issue.
3D Touch Not Working Issue on iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus: Tips to Fix
Start from the Scratch
The first trick that I would recommend you try out is a fresh start. I mean, turn off 3D Touch, reboot your device and turn it back on!
Step #1. Open Settings app on your iPhone.
Step #2. Now, tap on General.
Step #3. Next, tap on Accessibility.
Step #4. Next up, tap on 3D Touch and turn off the switch.
Step #5. Up next, reboot your smartphone.
To do so, press and quickly release volume down button, press and release the volume up down. Then, press and hold the side button you see Apple logo on the screen.
Step #6. Once your device has rebooted, turn on 3D Touch.
Now, try using 3D Touch on your device. Press and hold the Camera app on the Home screen. If the shortcut menu appears, it means the problem is fixed now.
Adjust 3D Touch Sensitivity
You can adjust the amount of pressure required to activate 3D Touch. While the light sensitivity reduces the amount of pressure required, the firm sensitivity increases it.
Step #1. Open Settings app → Tap on General → Tap on Accessibility.
Step #2. Tap on 3D Touch → Now, drag the slider towards left or right to adjust the sensitivity.
Then, make sure to press and hold the image to test 3D Touch sensitivity for peek and pop.
Reset Your iPhone to Factory Settings
I know not many folks like to reset their device to factory default as it wipes out Wi-Fi passwords and website login details. But, it’s always been one of the trusted hacks when it comes to fixing random issues. So, you shouldn’t miss out on it!
Step #1. Open Settings app on your iOS device → General → Tap on Reset.
Step #2. Now, tap on Reset All Settings and confirm.
Update iOS on your iPhone
Is your iPhone updated to the latest version? If you no, you should upgrade it to the latest version. I suspect the old version of the iOS might be playing the villainous role.
Just ensure that your device is at least 50% charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
Step #1. Launch Settings app on your device.
Step #2. Now, tap on General.
Step #3. Next, tap on Software Update.
Step #4. Up next, download and install the latest iOS version.
After the software update, the problem should be fixed. But if it persists, then replace the screen guard which might have become unresponsive due to scratch.

No solution as yet? Contact Apple
