You go to that conference and make a lot of friends. You note down their names or get their business cards and then search for their online profiles: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and may be, Instagram. And then you send friend reqs to all of them.
Sounds like a lengthy process right? Trust me, but it’s insanely lengthy. And tedious if you’ve got a bunch of people to follow after the conference.
A lot of people I know do this on a regular basis. Once a month, twice a month: people who go to a lot of meetings, conferences etc. And since social media has become the buzzword today replacing connectivity, people do rely heavily on it too.
That’s where SociaLink comes in.
How does it work?
The way SociaLink works is pretty smart. If you’re attending conferences and the guy you just befriended has SociaLink installed on his iDevice same as you, SociaLink will automatically, via Bluetooth, detect the profiles of the guy and notify you. You can simply connect and friend reqs are sent!
But that’s not the typical case right? Not everyone has SociaLink. So all you do is, just get the email ID and enter it into the app. It will send your profile links (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.) to the person (whose email ID you entered) so they can find you pretty easily.
So what’s so special about the app?
I wasn’t really enthusiastic about the app at first because we didn’t really know how important the Bluetooth discovery feature would be; or, how much it would matter. But come to think of it, these meetups and conferences do end up with a lot of contacts you’d like to connect with, online.
SociaLink just makes it happen smoothly and pretty fast. It’s like a wallet containing your social profile cards.
