Thanks to things like iCloud, Apple has made app management much simpler and hassle-free. Remember there was a time when, if you deleted an app, you had to either rely on an iTunes backup or just plain buy the app again if you wanted it so badly?

Things have changed a lot since that time. Now, if you delete an app, you don’t have to worry or panic. In fact, I’ve deleted apps so many times now that the whole thing has become very normal.

If you deleted an app from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you can recover the app very easily. Re-downloading the app doesn’t cost you anything if you’ve already bought the app.

How to Restore Deleted Apps on iPhone or iPad

It all stores in the cloud (on your account) so don’t ever worry. Of course, make sure you have iCloud setup at all times so that every inch of the information is safely stored somewhere.

How to recover and reinstall deleted apps on iPhone or iPad from App Store:

Step 1: Open the App Store

Launch App Store

Step 2: Tap on ‘Updates’ from the menu at the bottom

Apps Update in App Store

Step 3: Tap on ‘Purchased’

Purchased Apps from App Store<

Step 4: Now, tap on ‘Not on This iPhone’ menu on top

Step 5: Find the app that you deleted and want to re-install. Tap on the cloud icon and the installation will begin.

Step 6: Alternatively, you can even search for the purchased app on the App Store. When you buy the app (that you’ve already paid for), you won’t be charged.

How to recover and re-install deleted apps on iPad:

How to restore deleted apps from iTunes on iPhone or iPad:

Step 1: Connect your iPhone / iPad to your Mac/PC and open iTunes

Restore Deleted Apps via iTunes
Step 2: Click on the device (iPhone) and then tap on ‘Apps’ tab on the top

Click on Apps in iTunesStep 3: If you want all apps (deleted, installed etc.) on the iTunes list to be synced with your iPhone every time you connect your iPhone to the computer, click ‘Automatically sync new apps’

Click on Automatically Sync New Apps

Step 4: If you just want to install one particular app, choose the app on the Apps list and click “Install.”

Click on Install to Recover Deleted Apps
If Wi-Fi sync is enabled, your iPhone will download the app even if it’s not connected to your computer.

So that’s how easy it is to recover deleted apps. You can use this feature if you want to hide certain apps when you give the iPhone/iPad to your kids. Reclaiming the apps after you’ve got the iPhone and iPad back is easy!

Hi I deleted my sonos app accidentally but when I go into the reinstall from the App Store it won’t let me download it again – the app has the cloud next to it and when I click on it the spinning circle appears for a couple of seconds and then goes back to the cloud – any suggestions on how I can get this app back. Thanks

You are not only one experiencing this issue. App Store, iTunes, and other Apple services are down from this morning. Read out:

Hope, Apple will fix this issue at the earliest. Thereafter you will be able to re-download apps again.

Thank you! My 2-year-old got hold of my iPhone before I was able to lock it….and all I could tell was that there was an empty space.

I accidentally deleted a free app on my Iphone 5. It had pictures/videos on there and notes. I went back to download the app but my stuff is not on there. How can I get it back? The last backup on my phone was a couple of years ago and that is when the stuff was put on. Help please

This works, but it doesn’t put the apps back in the folder where they belong, so you have to drag each and every one back. Still a pain in the a$$ if you are restoring 100 apps because iTunes said your Win10 upgraded computer was “not authorized” :-|

I’ve dealt with this problem too. If I click install button again, I will loose my setting for each app. Clicking install for many app will be nightmare too.
