Have you ever got a redeem code for iTunes? That’s a fantastic experience. A redeem code is like power: you can get music, paid apps and a few other stuff right from the iTunes store / App Store like a boss. And now that it’s the Holiday season, chances are you might get some iTunes gift codes / certificates from a variety of sources.
When that happens, you need to know how to redeem iTunes gift card on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Here’s a short tutorial on it:
First decide what you’re going to use the iTunes gift code for: Music/Videos or App/Book etc.? If it’s media content, you open iTunes Store; if otherwise, open App Store.
Step 1: Tap Music from the navigation bar at the bottom of the iTunes Store app. (optionally, if you opened App Store, tap Featured)
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the page
Step 3: Tap on ‘Redeem’
Step 4: In the next page, enter 16-digit iTunes gift card/download code
Step 5: Tap ‘Redeem’
Step 6: The value of your code will be credited to your Apple ID account. In case you’re not signed in, you will be prompted to.
Step 7: You can now use the credited value to purchase music, shows, movies, apps, ebooks etc.
A point to note:
If what you purchase costs more than value of the gift card, your credit card will be charged for the balance. Also note that you cannot use “free song credits” for album purchases. Only single tracks are allowed to be purchased with free song credits.
So if you’ve got an iTunes gift code, you know how to redeem it now.
